What a great tribute to a great man -- well done. I learned several things I never knew about Uncle George, but none of his many accomplishments surprised me. I will always remember him as a sweet and humble yet incredibly vibrant man; an inspiration in so many ways. He will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you adjust to your loss.

Dr. McVey (that’s how I knew him!) was a significant presence in my life - as he was in the lives of many! He was my childhood dentist, father to my good friend Mary, treasured friend and social justice mentor to my parents Bob and Gail, and reliable neighbor. At times he could be intimidating, but he was always genuinely interested in others, and had an incredibly deep well of compassion. He was a role model to me on what it means to care about and work to make your community and country better. He will be missed, and his memory treasured. Mary, Karen, Connie, Amy, Mimi, and Pam - please know my thoughts are with you!

George was an amazing individual who taught me so much about life through swimming. He set the bar high for so many of us to follow. His commitment to family, fitness, and his many causes was inspirational. I loved coaching George, he was always willing to give the latest techniques a try to better his breaststroke times, even though they were speedy already. George gave his heart to Masters swimming, his guidance and support during difficult times never wavered for himself and others. You will be my swimming spirit guide for life. Love you George, Coach Lorie Gibson Rick

Thank you so much Lorie. You, Niagara Swimming, Rochester Area Master’s Swimming (RAMS), MCC practices, and on and on, have been a part of our lives for SO many years. Is it 30, 35 years, perhaps more? My dad loved you (hehe, of course he would never say it that way). The McVey family is grateful for your presence on deck and in our lives.

I worked with George from 1983 until he retired. He certainly was a perfectionist but we loved his spirit we loved his curiosity about life and about people and his dedication to social justice. He and I remained close throughout his life after retirement including a closenes to his six beautiful daughters.. He lead a life that we can only aspire to live.... I love you George... Rest in peace.

Thank you Pam. Our dad loved your energy. As a matter of fact, we all love your buoyant, indefatigable, high energy. You, Lynn and Debbie were an integral part of our dad’s practice, and despite his retirement 30 years ago, you remained an integral part of his life. Now, get out there and play some Pickleball!
