Obituary of Sandra-Leigh Gilbert
Sandra-Leigh (Sandie) Gilbert, 64, passed away peacefully due to complications from multiple sclerosis on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at her home in Guilford.
She was born on November 27, 1955 in Woodstock, NB to Earle and Veronica Watson. She grew up in Maxwell, NB and after high school, attended Faith School of Theology in Charleston.
During her time at Faith School she met her future husband, William (Bill) Gilbert, and they were married on March 30, 1985 in Fredericton NB. Sandie and Bill moved to their home in Guilford shortly after they had started a family. Sandie was a very active member of the local Assemblies of God Church, teaching Sunday school and leading an outreach to a local boarding home. Sandie worked at Hardwood Products for 16 years, until she could no longer do her job because of complications from MS. After leaving the workforce, she focused even more on the Church, eventually serving as a board member before she could no longer attend due to health issues. She loved Jesus and she loved her family, her lilac bushes and her tiger lilies. She liked a good cup of coffee or tea out on the front porch or in the backyard in the shade.
She was predeceased by her parents, Earle and Verona Watson, her sister Alma Lou Warren, brothers William, Earle, Randy and Robert. She is survived by her husband of 35 years William of Guilford, her son James Gilbert and his wife Jessica of Corinth, two grandchildren, Raeganne and Levi Gilbert of Corinth, siblings Sheila Johnson and her husband Sheldon, Wealtha Watson, Jack Watson and his wife Diana; and many nieces and nephews that she held very dear.
Services will be held at a later date, due to Covid-19.
